Welcome to PFLAG Long Island

Here you will find important information about our organization and how we can help you accept and understand about a loved one who falls anywhere along the LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and more) spectrum.

PFLAG Long Island is a part of a national organization of parents, families, friends and allies united with the LGBTQ+ community to move equality forward. Our meetings are mostly comprised of parents, allies, and friends who all have loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community, although there are also members of the LGBTQ+ community present at each meeting. We provide an opportunity for dialogue about all topics including expression, identity, and sexuality, in a friendly, confidential, and supportive environment.

This site is intended to educate and celebrate the LGBTQ+ experience through positive representation of important and well known individuals. You will hear and read stories about our advocacy results, and see interesting perspectives on LGBTQ+ events and successes.

Our meetings are open to all who need our support. Parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and of course any LGBTQ+ person.  We are here for all of you!

Our Response to COVID-19:

We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our members and volunteers. From the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, we’ve been listening closely to the CDC, and other agencies, to stay up to date with the latest information. At this point in time, while we still offer virtual meetings, we are back to our in-person meetings!

Please keep an eye out on our Events Page for notifications regarding our in person and virtual meetings, and please – as always – feel free to reach out to [email protected] for more information at anytime.

Thank you and stay safe!

Join us in our celebration of the LGBTQ+ experience!!

From a PFLAG mother…

“Just want to say I have learned so much and taken many new steps on my new journey thanks to the support of this amazing organization. I have attended 2 meetings so far. I must say I look forward to them each month. It’s a wonderful feeling not to feel alone. Thank you for all you do” ~A PFLAG Parent
